Abstract

It is shown that changes in external colour and firmness can be used to determine when Cavendish fruit begins its climacteric rise or reaches its climacteric peak. Mean values are shown for the interval between the start of the climacteric rise and the first firmness change for 4 collection periods, and regression coefficients are also shown of these intervals on time to the beginning of the climacteric rise at these periods.-Qd Dep. prim.
