Abstract

The incidence of bitter pit in stored fruit was higher in apples from younger trees at all harvesting dates and in those picked in late Feb. compared with those from the same trees in mid-Mar. Five calcium nitrate sprays throughout the season had no effect on the incidence of tree bitter pit and only slight reduction in storage bitter pit.
