Abstract

When this project began there was 1ittle detailed knowledg e of the soil-water-plant-animal complex and their interactions in western Queensland. In the course of this project, the state of knowledge of this complex has been expanded greatly. It has increased our knowledge of the productive value of useful woody species (particularly mulga) and made us aware of the problem of increasing populations of woody species and of their potential destructive effect on animal production. The project has contributed a large number of associated publications on the management of woody plant communities in south west Queensland. This material has also been extended to graziers and land administration personnel concerned with the area.
