THE POTATO DISEASE. [Phytophthora infestaras (Mont.), De Bary.]

Tryon, H. (1909) THE POTATO DISEASE. [Phytophthora infestaras (Mont.), De Bary.]. Queensland Agricultural Journal, 23 (2). pp. 118-127.

This potato malady is known under many names, of which the following may be mentioned :-Blight, Late Blight, Potato Murrain, Potato Rot, Potato Mould, Downy Nlildew, Brown Rust (Tasmania), La Maladie des Pommes-de-terre, Phytophfl,
ora. Probably the last mentioned is to be preferred, since it has allusion to the most essential feature of the malady, the growth within the potato of a parasite-a fungus, first designated-by Montague-Botrytis infestaras, and now known as Phytophthora infestaras, De Bary.
