Abstract

On available evidence, 'Omithoptera euphorion' (Gray) is considered to be the sister-species of 'O. richmondia' (Gray), not a subspecies of 'O. priamus' (Linnaeus) unless both taxa (plus 'O. croesus' Wallace) are included. A suggestion that a sister-taxon relationship exists between 'Omithoptera' Boisduval and Madagascan 'Pkarmacophagus' Haase, rather than 'Troides' Hubner, is rejected. 'Trogonoptera' Rippon is maintained as a distinct genus.
