Abstract

Consumer tests on between 7 and 10 cultivars were carried out each year over a three-year period. Tests were carried out by experienced fruit tasters or consumer panels. The panellists scored fruit for various attributes covering both appearance and eating quality.
Fruit of all cultivars were considered acceptable on average, with the exception of ‘Pinnacle’. Flavour, sweetness and juiciness were the attributes which tasters contributed most to the strawberry.
