Abstract

Volume 2 of Forage Seed Production covers tropical and subtropical species, and is the companion to Volume 1 dealing with temperate forage species, published in 1998. It is published in association with the International Herbage Seed Production Research Group. The book is divided into 2 main sections, one outlining the current principles of tropical forage seed production (including growth and development of grasses and legumes, location of seed crops, crop management and harvesting, and seed cleaning, testing and storage), and the second illustrating these principles in a practical way through a series of case histories, mostly dealing with individual species and countries. These main sections are preceded by an introductory overview and complemented by a final summing up of major issues and trends.
