Abstract

Liveweight gains from pastures of common guinea grass (Panicum maximum) and of the cultivars Hamil, Colonaio and Embu were compared from 1968 to 1971 using Brahman cross steers grazed at 4·94 beasts/ha over the wet season and 2·47 beasts/ha for the rest of the year. Each grass was grown with Centrosema pubescens (centro) or a mixture of centro and Glycine wightii cv. Tinaroo (Tinaroo glycine).
