Abstract

It is shown from investigations in the field and laboratory in Queensland in 1970-72 that Thrips florum Schmutz is the cause of a skin blemish of bananas known as corky scab. Adults were attracted to the new bunch as it appeared in the throat of the plant, and damage was caused at this early stage.
