Article Link: https://grdc.com.au/research/reports/report?id=101... AbstractGlyphosate# resistance evolution can now be simulated for Northern Region (NR) weeds. We adjusted the proven APSIM crop model and added a new weed module to simulate genetics, mating and seedbank dynamics. Although the model is generic, it was parameterised for barnyard grass and validated using historical data on the first confirmed glyphosate resistance in this weed. The model identifies risk levels for different NR agronomic and weed control practices. It also quantifies the relative merits of different preventive tactics, which greatly assist the development of effective strategies to reduce resistance risk. The project developed and promoted a simple risk assessment tool for growers to identify glyphosate resistance risk.
