Abstract

This report describes necrotizing enteritis associated with intranuclear inclusion bodies and adenovirus-like particles in captive lorikeets from a well-managed pet shop in Northern Victoria, Australia (February 2002).
The clinical signs, gross and histopathologic lesions in scaly breasted lorikeets (Trichoglossus chlorolepidotus) and rainbow lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus) are discussed. This appears to be the first report of adenovirus infection in lorikeets.
