Abstract

The reported research aimed to find effective replacements for methyl bromide in strawberry runner and fruit production. We compared the following new fumigants:
methyl iodide plus chloropicrin 30:70 in Year 1, and 50:50 in year 2, 1, 3 dichloropropene; chloropicrin 65:35 EC and 1,3 dichloropropene; chloropicrin 40:60 with the old standard methyl bromide: chloropicrin 50:50, chloropicrin alone, and dichloropropene; chloropicrin 65:35. Evaluations were conducted on Stanthorpe runner farms in 2007/08 and 2008/09, and a Nambour fruit production site in 2008.
Project data would support a national registration application.
