Abstract

An account is given of the technique applied to the production and testing of sugar-cane seedlings in Queensland. From the crossing point of view, to ensure an excellent arrowing season the crops must have made reasonable growth before the wet season, the wet season should be long and uniform, and autumn and early winter conditions should maintain reasonable growth and allow emergence of arrows. A simple lopping procedure is adopted to delay arrowing.
