Abstract

Queensland Maple (Flindersia breyleyana F.v.M) is a characteristic tree of northern Queensland rain-forests and is of considerable importance as a producer of cabinet and general-purpose timbers. The occurrence, morphology and previous observations concerning axillary gall of F. brayleyana are discussed, and investigations described which show that the disease is caused by a bacterium closely allied to Xanthomonas tumefaciens.
