Abstract

An account is given of a series of experiments in connexion with the development of bluestain in hoop pine logs. A number of anti-stain treatments are described and the results summarized. It was shown that a commercial ethyl mercury chloride preparation is superior to the other mixtures used in the experiment. It was further demonstrated that logs left in the rain-forest with the bark on and the ends protected remained in perfect condition.
