Abstract

The literature dealing with climatic classification is reviewed, and the P/E ratio used as a method of measuring effective rainfall. The seasonal incidence of effective rainfall is calculated for bi-monthly periods, and zonation is undertaken on the basis of its reliability. Summer and winter P/E differences, mean minimum winter and mean maximum summer temperatures are considered and the broad influence of climatic factors on the growth and distribution of plants and on sheep husbandry is discussed.
