AbstractFour perennial tropical legumes - Calopogonium mucenoides (calopo), Centrosema pubescens (centro), Pueraria phaseoloides (puero) and Stylosanthes guianensis (stylo) - after 18 months' growth were ploughed under in July at South Johnstone, on the wet tropical coast of Queensland, and soil nitrate nitrogen values were determined in four layers to a depth of 24 inches over the ensuing seven months.
