Abstract

The single-spray trial employing the randomised complete block experimental design was found to be suitable for screening insecticides against larvae of Heliothis armiger (Hb.) and H. punctiger Wllgr. on tobacco in northern Queensland. The procedures involved in the selection and preparation of the trial sites are given, and an outline of the conduct of the trials is presented. The advantages of the single-spray trial are listed.
