Abstract

The effects of liveweight, sex, temperature, water and food supply on the lifespan of adults of Heliothis armigera were investigated in the laboratory. The lifespan Y (in days) was related to liveweight X1 (in g) and temperature X2 (in the range 15.8-33.1 deg C) according to the equation Y=18.4097X1-0.3298X2+9.8037. Adult lifespan increased when water or honey solutions were provided, but there was no difference between the sexes.
