AbstractA Leptospira pomona outbreak was initiated and maintained in a herd of cattle pastured under simulated dairy farm conditions. Initial attempts to spread leptospirosis from four inoculated carriers to a group of in-contact heifers, over the dry months from August to October 1963, resulted in only one heifer contracting the disease. L. pomona subsequently disappeared from the animals and the environment.
