Abstract

Tomato seedlings grown in an acid krasnozem soil at bulk densities greater than 1.3 showed symptoms of stunting and purpling of stems, petioles and lower surfaces of leaves. Nutritional data presented demonstrate that the uptake of mobile elements such as calcium and sodium is not affected by soil density.
