Abstract

Three treatments-the addition of penicillin (500 I.U./ml) and streptomycin (500 mug/ml), the flushing of ampoules with nitrogen, and the partial saturation of the diluent with nitrogen-were applied to a standard egg yolk diluent for deep-frozen bovine semen and compared with controls. No significant treatment differences in post-thawing percentage of motile spermatozoa were observed. All 3 treatments resulted in a lower N.R. rate to 1st insemination than controls; however, the differences were not significant.-F.S.
