Abstract

Over 30 species of insects, representing 23 families and 7 orders, are listed from the pasture weed Eremophila gilesii in southern Queensland in 1973-75, and their possible role in natural control of the weed is discussed. The grasshoppers Monistria pustulifera (Wlk.) and M. discrepans (Wlk.) were by far the most injurious to the plant, and Xylorycta sp., Hypogryphia amictodes Turner and Coenotes eremophilae (Lucas) exerted considerable control over the weed in localised areas.
